“Hello, dear interested parties, I am Katharina’s mother, who is responsible for the interior layout and furnishings on the new ship.

The construction of this ship was kept secret from me, so it was a great surprise when I was guided there on the day of the maiden voyage, September 28, 2019.

The ship was also christened “Queeny”, which is my nickname among Katharina’s Egyptian friends and acquaintances. This is of course an honor and a pleasure for me.

A year earlier we had taken a Nile cruise on a sailing ship, so I have something to compare it to. Our ship has very modern, bright cabins with very comfortable good beds and beautiful bathrooms.

In addition to the ten cabins, there are also two suites. All furniture, also in the saloon and on deck, was designed by Katharina and made by Egyptian craftsmen.

Material, fabrics, crockery, lamps, etc. were chosen with love and commitment, you can tell. Supervised by the friendly, cheerful crew, enjoy delicious meals at the long table, float down the river and admire the fantastic scenery, visit spectacular monuments and observe life in Egypt.

We all felt very comfortable. A trip on the Queeny is really rewarding and fulfills all wishes.”

“A trip on a sailing ship on the Nile? The best care every day, the finest accommodation? Slowing down in a family, noble atmosphere? Peace and comfort on deck? Green shores, settlements, behind the desert as far as the eye can see?

That was my expectation when I entered the Queeny. Have you been surpassed in the daily meals, you sit at a huge table, are served with local dishes and chat with your neighbors about the sights that you were able to visit on the many excursions? Temperatures played a minor role, the air-conditioned cabin, equipped with comfortable beds, light windows and a wonderful bathroom, invited you to cool off.

Do you have some extra pocket money? You made a good investment on this trip!”

“Welcome aboard the Nile Sailor Queeny. Under the hot Egyptian sun you are completely relaxed on deck. No restlessness, no noise, no stress.

Sitting on one of the inviting sofas, you can see the banks of the Nile moving on with date palms, lemon trees and farmers riding donkeys. white herons on the shore! this is served with tea with dates and pastries.

After dinner, a walk on the 50 m long deck, later drinking coffee without engine noise. Afternoon rest in the air-conditioned apartment. Egypt on the Queeny for beginners and advanced.”

“First of all, my compliments to the team that organized the rice.

Het was really awesome!! Een hele bijzondere ervaring om met de Haber (zeilboot) te knnen linien op de Nijl. Het was the most comfortable cruise that I made up: heerlijke beds and splendid bathrooms on the hele boat.

Sowel het ontbijt as de lunch as diner were voortreffelijk. Everything up to now will be recorded from the trip and from the boat, which is a large part of the Egyptian shipping history. Het heeft everything that is needed raises om a fantastic Nijl cruise te gaan maken.”

“We were fortunate enough to be on the maiden of Queeny of the Nile. The cruise was exceptional. The cleanliness of the Dahabiya was beyond good. The rooms are beautiful and all air conditioned, the adjoining shower room was also very clean.

The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the Chef was great. I have visited Egypt on a number of occasions but it was the first time for my husband. I would recommend it for a wonderful taster of Egyptian life.

We visited many temples and all were amazing. My husband is looking forward to going back. At all times we felt safe and secure. A very interesting, friendly and relaxing way to see some amazing places.

Travelogue by Andy E.

“It was my first maiden voyage, but it wasn’t the first Dahabeya I’ve seen or been on. The cabins have plenty of space next to the beds and there’s even space for a reading corner.

The bathroom doesn’t feel cramped; sufficient free space was ensured. You can tell that a lot of thought has been put into how to make the best use of the limited space so that the guest feels comfortable.

If you saw a row of houses instead of the Nile when looking out of the window, you could forget that you are on a ship – although some hotel rooms do not offer this comfort.

The crew that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. This is not achieved with great deeds but with the many small details that come from the heart.

It is the water one receives before an excursion, the fresh towel and the refreshing drink on the return; the indirect light in the bathroom which awaits you after dinner and also the skilfully shaped bath towels on the bed. Retreating to the cabin feels like coming home.

The kitchen – responsible for the physical well-being – conjures up local delicacies that are excellently seasoned and lovingly prepared. True to the motto: eat with your eyes. And it’s entirely possible that you’ll return home with a little more physical weight.

Ali, the chef de service, who is available at the bar before breakfast until late in the evening and treats every guest as if he were there just for them. Who asks so discreetly at dinner if you want more soup that you think you’re sitting at a queen’s table – which isn’t all that wrong. You can tell he loves what he does.

He even declines the late-evening offer that he can retire and you can serve yourself, on the grounds that he is responsible for the well-being of the guests.

A trip with Queeny is deceleration, nature, relaxation, culture and enjoyment.”

“…an oasis of calm and serenity in this time of chaos. Your commitment to be of service was evident from the minute we stepped on board. Your support of our group made us feel welcomed and provided the space for us to absorb your amazing country. I am so grateful to you in so many ways, dancing and singing, on the tugboat was one of many highlights. You will always be family to me

“To the beautiful people who take care of this boat, the Queeny Of The Nile: You took us in and treaded us like family! We have felt your warm hearts every time you serviced us with your generous hospitality. This has been a trip of a lifetime! You made us love Egypt even MORE. Thank you one million times for everything! May you be blessed over and over! With Love”

– Belinda (Knoxville, TN, USA)

“The special moments are those when you are closer to the crew. At the Gabana there is singing and dancing. Anyone who has a pre-sing/post-singing song up his sleeve(?) and dares to do so can conquer the hearts of the crew , with singing skills being secondary. An old Boy Scout song is enough to give the crew a laugh for an evening.”

– Andy (aka Mr. Polite)

“While it’s snowing and raining all over Europe, we enjoy wonderfully mild and sunny days here! Only after sunset do we get a slight chill. The chef prepares exceptionally good and wholesome meals for us three times a day. The crew does their best to always with friendly and smiling faces. In addition, there is the evening music with drums and singing! It couldn’t have been better, we are thrilled and thank you very much for everything. We wish Queeny all the best and hope for an end to the Corona crisis, so that sue can drive again as planned. See you soon.”

“Dear crew Mohamed and Katarina!
Pure experience! The cabin extra daring… with a balcony a fantastic view of the Nile. Great berths, special tour guide. The kitchen was especially of the finest great praise! Mohamed and Katarina also gave us the best information for accommodation in Luxor. A big THANK YOU to the team, especially Achmet for the personal support.”

Dahabeya, Queeny of the Nile? First of all: a dream!
“Katharina welcomed us personally and, after a brief introduction to the conditions on board, we were able to move into the dreamlike “red” suite with a balcony.

The rooms are all very tasteful, equipped with beautiful decorative furniture and provided with individual flower names. The bathroom with a walk-in shower has a Swiss “five-star standard”, or rather, we have never seen anything so beautiful in Egypt!

The salon is surrounded by comfortable seating areas and furnished with interesting books that bring you closer to the country and its people and in which you can retreat on the cooler evenings.

The deck is furnished with many oriental seating areas and deckchairs, on which you can enjoy watching the landscape pass by.

The large crew is very helpful and always there when you need something and spoiled us with their fruit cocktails and cool towels when you came back from the excursions bathed in sweat.

The kitchen crew is top class and the food very rich and varied. It’s almost impossible to stop eating.

This Nile cruise with the “Queeny of the Nile” lets you forget everyday life and immerse yourself in the culture and history of Egypt.
The whole thing was accompanied by the guide, Muslim Ali, a highly competent archaeologist with perfect German. He showed us a new highlight every day on the shore leave. Even if the temples are too much for you, he has professionally understood how to make the visits interesting with small anecdotes or exciting details. Even the quarry became a highlight with him. You could also talk to him very well about God and the world. He, in turn, understood very well how to look after European guests.
Really highly recommended.

The “Queeny” was definitely the highlight of this cultural trip.
Thank you for everything.”

“…The time on the beautiful Queeny was definitely a highlight…”

We have been back in Switzerland for two weeks now, but in my thoughts I am still often in Egypt, processing the many wonderful and impressive experiences.
The time on the beautiful Queeny was definitely a highlight. We really enjoyed the extraordinary ambience with the very tasteful furnishings on deck and in the cabins. Watching the landscape pass by, not having to worry about anything, being spoiled with a delicious buffet three times a day, was simply wonderful. It was also an incredible coincidence that in addition to our group of 8, there was also a group of 7, also from Solothurn and the surrounding area, on the ship. So the ratio was balanced and the atmosphere very relaxed. The crew was exceptionally friendly and accommodating and fulfilled every special request.
We can only recommend a Nile cruise like this!
We wish you and your crew continued success and all the best!

Best wishes,
Isabel Messmer und Thomas Egger

“The “Queeny” was a highlight on our first cultural trip to Egypt.”

Reisedatum: Ostern 2024

My comment on the trip
Easter 2024, Ramadan in Egypt: 5 relaxing days (nights) and the wonderful trip on the Nile with the Queeny will always remain in our memories.
6 guests, 15 crew members and our guide Hussein Kenawy – on this large, stylish Dahabeya – what luxury!
As a couple, we really enjoyed the Edelweiss Suite, the ship’s ambience and being together with the other guests.
Everyday life was far away, the culture and history of Egypt was there to touch and experience – on shore excursions, in the pharaonic temples (perfect timing! we were always almost the only ones on the temple grounds) and on the banks of the Nile. Encounters, people, way of life, Hussein was always in a good mood, answered all of our questions patiently and competently in perfect German and opened our hearts to Egypt!
The captain and crew guided the ship safely and calmly – everything was very relaxed – self-service for coffee, tea and soft drinks was no problem. The Egyptian food was always freshly prepared and tasty: omelette, various fruits and homemade bread, several starters, delicious salads and varied main courses! The pastry chef spoiled us with a variety of desserts and his joy at our joy was simply heartwarming!
The “Queeny” was a highlight on our first cultural trip to Egypt. Thank you for everything.
Warm greetings from Radolfzell! Dorothea Fischer and Siegfried Schmidgall
